Our Commitment to Child Safety

At Bump to Bounce Photography, the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of every child are our highest priorities. We are committed to creating a positive and secure photography experience that celebrates the joy and individuality of each child. Our work in childcare and early learning centres plays an important role in preserving precious childhood memories while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, privacy, and care.


Purpose


This policy outlines our commitment to child safety and the measures we take to ensure the responsible and ethical handling of all photographs, data, and interactions with children in our care. It also ensures compliance with childcare centre policies, state regulations, and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.


Scope

This policy applies to all photography sessions conducted by Bump to Bounce Photography in childcare, preschool, daycare, and early learning settings, as well as any associated image handling, storage, or sharing.


1. Permission and Participation

  • Only children who are formally registered for photography will be photographed.
  • Each participating child must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian, obtained via our online booking system.
  • No child will be photographed without verified parental permission.


2. Child Safety During Photography Sessions

  • All sessions are conducted in a safe, supervised, and age-appropriate manner.
  • The photographer and assistants maintain professional boundaries at all times.
  • Staff ratios and supervision policies set by each childcare centre are always respected.
  • We work collaboratively with educators to ensure every child feels comfortable and supported.
  • Physical contact is avoided unless necessary to ensure a child’s safety (e.g., preventing a fall), or to enable suitable photographs to be taken and is always done respectfully and appropriately.


3. Secure Storage and Handling of Photographs

  • All photographs are stored on encrypted, password-protected systems.
  • Files are never shared with unauthorised parties.
  • Digital photographs are kept only for as long as necessary to fulfil customer orders and administrative purposes, after which they are securely archived or deleted.
  • We comply fully with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988.


4. Social Media and Marketing Use

  • Photographs of children are never shared publicly or on social media without explicit written consent from a parent or guardian.
  • If permission is granted, only positive, respectful, and appropriate photographs are selected for marketing purposes.
  • Consent for social media use is separate from photography session consent, ensuring parents have full control.


5. Compliance with Childcare Centre Policies

  • We work in partnership with each childcare service and adhere to their individual policies and proceduresregarding privacy, child protection, and site access.
  • Photographers sign in upon arrival and follow all visitor protocols, including Working With Children Check (WWCC) verification.
  • Any concerns regarding child wellbeing are reported immediately to the centre’s Nominated Supervisor or Director in line with mandatory reporting obligations.


6. Professional Standards and Legal Compliance

  • All photographers and assistants hold a current Working With Children Check.
  • We follow the National Child Safe Standards and Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics.
  • Our team is trained in recognising and responding to child safety concerns.


7. Review and Continuous Improvement

This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure compliance with current laws and best practice standards. Feedback from childcare centres and families is welcomed to help us continually strengthen our approach to child safety.
